HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: ZNF157
Cytogenetic location: Xp11.3 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38) : X:47,370,578-47,414,498 (from NCBI)
Derry et al. (1995) cloned and characterized the cDNA for a 506-amino acid putative zinc finger family transcription factor designated ZNF157. Northern blots detected a weak 3.5-kb transcript in a transformed B-cell line and a T-cell line.
Derry et al. (1995) determined that the ZNF157 gene contains 4 exons and spans over 20 kb of genomic DNA. Exons 2 and 3 contain KRAB-A and KRAB-B domains that act as transcriptional repressors in related proteins. Exon 4 contains 12 zinc finger domains and linking motifs similar to those of proteins of the Kruppel family.
Derry et al. (1995) mapped the ZNF157 gene to a YAC that also contains SYN1 (313440), TIMP (305370), ARAF1 (311010) and PFC (300383). This YAC is part of a contig of less than 1 Mb that also contains ZNF41 (314995), ZNF21 (314993) and ZNF81 (314998) and was mapped to Xp11.2. The gene order is tel-ZNF157/ZNF41-ZNF21/ZNF81-cen.
