MYELODYSPLASIA-MYELOID LEUKEMIA FACTOR 2

HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: MLF2

Cytogenetic location: 12p13.31   Genomic coordinates (GRCh38) : 12:6,747,996-6,753,141 (from NCBI)

TEXT

Cloning and Expression

Kuefer et al. (1996) described a cDNA encoding a predicted 248-amino acid protein sequence with approximately 40% identical to myeloid leukemia factor-1 (601402). Expression of MLF2 was ubiquitous.

Mapping

By fluorescence in situ hybridization, Kuefer et al. (1996) mapped the MLF2 gene to chromosome 12p13, a region associated with translocations in acute leukemias of lymphoid and myeloid origin. However, they found no alterations in the structure of the MLF2 locus in patients shown to have 12p translocations.
