HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: PPFIA4

Cytogenetic location: 1q32.1   Genomic coordinates (GRCh38) : 1:203,026,491-203,078,736 (from NCBI)

TEXT

Description

PPFIA4, or liprin-alpha-4, belongs to the liprin-alpha gene family (Serra-Pages et al., 1998). See liprin-alpha-1 (LIP1, or PPFIA1; 611054) for background on liprins.

Cloning and Expression

Serra-Pages et al. (1998) identified a family of genes encoding LIP1-related proteins, or liprins. The sequence of the predicted partial 500-amino acid liprin-alpha-4 protein is 75% identical to that of LIP1. Northern blot analysis revealed that the liprin-alpha-4 gene is expressed as a 7.5-kb mRNA only in heart, brain, and skeletal muscle.

Mapping

Gross (2022) mapped the PPFIA4 gene to chromosome 1q32.1 based on an alignment of the PPFIA4 sequence (GenBank BC144262) with the genomic sequence (GRCh38).
