Cloning and Expression

Using differential display of normal and cancerous gastric tissue, followed by 5-prime RACE, Yoshikawa et al. (2000) identified cDNAs encoding CA11 and CAPN9 (606401). The deduced 199-amino acid CA11 protein contains an asn-rich region. Northern blot analysis revealed expression of an approximately 1.1-kb CA11 transcript predominantly in stomach; no expression was detected in cancer tissue or gastric cancer cell lines.


Mapping

Stumpf (2024) mapped the GKN1 gene to chromosome 2p13.3 based on an alignment of the GKN1 sequence (GenBank AY139184) with the genomic sequence (GRCh38).
